1996 Dakota fuel pump
Don't know if the 96 is the same as my 90 but I just had my pump out yesterday....there are 5 wires in the plug...the 12v is dark green with black stripe and ground is gray...other three are for float. If colors are different it will be the two larger wires. When you're checking voltage I would also check the 12v wire to a good known ground....make a long test wire and test it all the way back to the battery. You may have a floating ground or high resistance ground. You can also test the ground wire at the plug ohms back to the battery and see if you have less than .1 ohms. As a test you can pull the ASD relay and jumper 12v to the dark green wire and see if the pump turns on. Again compare this to your FSM as these colors are based on my 90.
I've got 6 wires n I'm starting to think u may be rite on the asd because I have switched out relay n nothing changes pump is still good when u hook rite to battery it sprays fuEl about 5 feet thanks for all the tips guy looks like i got some monkeying around tomorrow
Try bypassing the ASD and seeing if it sprays then.
If not, it's time to check the wiring to the pump.
And for THAT - you really, Really, REALLY need the Chrysler Factory Service Manual; if it's not in the stickies for this forum, then I'd check Ebay or worst case see if Bishko Publishing (the printer for Chrysler) has it; PDF should be fine for you.

It has one.
But for a wiring diagram, it's better used as toilet paper.
And it sucks as toilet paper. *grins*
I'll repeat - pick up The Chrysler Factory Service Manual. The 1995 is in the sticky here as a PDF; as I type this, the 1996 can be had at RockAuto for $23 CD or $80 paper; and they're usually available on Ebay used. (As I type this they have a paper copy for $19 shipped.)
