updates. i dont have good pics because they saved all zoomed in for some strange reason so i have to retake what i can tonight when i get home.

i bought another truck. its a 98 k2500 chevy with a 350 5spd 4x4 rclb. which i promptly got banned from the church where my friends wedding was for doing a burnout in the parking lot.(impressing the single ladies) (no pics yet sadly)

i stuck 31x10.5 tires on the 89 saturday morning and did a full tune up. didnt even have to crank the t-bars and had no rubbing on anything.

project updates.

its amazing the similarities between 1st gen trucks and the 2nd gen trucks. i guess i shouldnt be too surprised though.

the heater boxes are almost identical the 2nd gens are about an inch taller. i swapped the ac components between the two boxes so i could retain the ac. the 2nd gen is about an inch taller so the top of the box doesnt seat fully but it doesnt affect how the dash sits in the truck.

im running out of time before the move so i took the easy way out and stripped the 93 dash of all the wiring and ran the 00 wiring through it. theres a lot more wires due to all the updated electronics and it doesnt let the vent system to sit properly. i found its easy to keep it all together if you run a screw into the plastic at each joint.

i put the upper dash in too. side note, the steering column cannot be bolted in when you do this. the dash does sit in properly once its bolted in.

for the steering column, i used the 00 steering column. im going to try to change the ignition switch out to retain my original key but im not sure the mounts are the same or not. the bolt holes closest to the steering wheel will have to be reamed out (i think i used a half inch drill bit) as they are too close together. its a really soft metal and can probably be filed down but i went the easy way and used a drill bit.

the plate down at the firewall wont work from the 00 column. either one needs to be custom made or do what i did and use the one from the 93 steering column and bolt the one from the 00 column on to it.

as for the brake, the studs on the 00 brake booster are just a hair too far out to just bolt in so i used the 93 booster and master cylinder and made new brake lines from the proportioning valve to the master cylinder.

im lost on where im going to put the battery. i dont want it in the engine bay even though it would fit in the factory spot. i can fit it under the bed with a custom box made up or i can put it in the bed but im not sure where yet.

dont worry ill have pics later tonight or tomorrow.

Shadow, thought you might find this old thread interesting. It's a 4.7 to hemi swap in a 2001 Dakota, but the guy listed the engine wire harness and each wire's function, beginning on page 2.

Here's the link: http://www.customdakotas.com/forums/...heres-how.html

I'm back again guys, sorry for the delay but I got a lot more done on this swap. I've been extremely busy so I had to through the truck together and it is driveable and I have had it on the road. Ill have pics some day soon hopefully. I did get the power windows working but I'm having an issue with the power locks. All the lights work. I had to modify the 00 brake switch mounting bracket to be able to use the 00 brake switch. Anyway ill get more details and pictures soon. Any questions feel free to message me.

Default 4x4 to awd

Did you say you swapped from 4x4 to awd in your 93 dakota before you swapped the body??
