93 dodge dakota Transmission

And a 3.9, could be anything depending on year. In the late 80's it was a 3 speed. In the early 90's it was a 42rh 4 speed with overdrive. In the middle 90's I believe it was also the 46rh or 46re. So it just all depends. You don't want to put a 42rh from a 3.9 behind your v8, unless you build it up. And you need to match rh/re to what you have.

A little more info - 1987 Dakota 3.9s got the 3 speed; 1988 had the 3 speed auto, 4 speed optional; by 1989 the 4 speed auto was the auto.
Dakotas also didn't get the electronic controlled ones until 1996 (although OD and lockup were controlled on ALL Dakotas; but it's still called a 44RH or 46RH).
2WD and 4WD got different tailshafts; and since you put the tailshaft in first and built the transmission to the front from there, it makes more sense to pick up a transmission of the same wheeledness.
