Default Need some help: Transmission

I have a 1992 dodge dakota le, 3.9 auto 99k miles. When i am going 55,60,65 and the truck is in overdrive when i start down any kind of grade, if i let completely off the gas it will down shift out of over drive, if i hold the gas down just a little it will stay in overdrive. when it downshifts and i try to get it back into od it takes a few seconds to go back into od, im having some problem with it shifting in and out between 25 and 45 ,. I pull a 45 code but im sure that most of you know that under that code there is 10 things. one other thing that happens i can push the button to take it out of od but it wont do anything now. any help you fellas can give would be greatly appreciated.

I agree with this.

Take the truck out on a long stretch of road. Accelerate about half throttle. Count the shifts. You should feel 1-2 2-3 3-4 and then 4 TC lockup. 4 "shifts" should be felt. And you'll notice the tach (if so equipped) will drop about 4-600 rpms and feel the engine bog down a little.

Or, going up a hill, if you feel 2 "downshifts" and you'll still going over say 40, you're in third not second.
