Exclamation Replacing Headlight Switch/Connector

My headlight switch and/or connector is burned out and I'm replacing them. Can I crimp the headlight wires to the new connector or is there a better way to connect them?

You don't need to crimp, splice or solder...it's pre-molded plugs.

Ideally you solder and heat shrink; when done properly, crimping can do the job also. Note: "Properly" is !NOT! "used a $1.25 crimping tool on it", BTW!

I would also use a relay harness up front, to get that current OUT of the headlight switch, if you were not able to solder and heat shrink.

To others: New connectors have flying leads that are to be connected to the current wiring after cutting off the old connector. I'm presuming this is what 93Dak3.9 is talking about.

Yes, I misread....didn't realize he's replacing the connector too. If just the switch, then it's the molded plug.

Agree with Ralph...if replacing the connector, solder and heat shrink is the only way to go.
