Yeah, failing when it gets hot is fairly standard.

Couldn't the crank sensor cause a symptom just like this due to heat as well?

Entirely possible.

Another member had a condition where several cylinders had a weak spark, but, the rest were fine.... changed the crank sensor, problem gone. So, it appears that the signal the sensor sends isn't an 'all or nothing' affair, like I would expect from a hall-effect switch. (that was kinda surprising......) But, as your is consistently weak, I tend to lean more toward the coil. (not to mention, the coil is cheaper, and easier to get to. ) If you decide to replace the sensor, get one from the dealer. Yes, they are more expensive, but, they actually WORK right.... the same cannot be said for the aftermarket fellers.

Okay I will probably ohm the sensor as well just to see what I come up with and I'll look into the coil more as well.

Also, don't forget the rotor and the distributor cap while working on it; they CAN fail intermittently (and thermal is as intermittent as they come!)

If they were the problem I would still see strong spark off the primary coil correct?? Because I Don't see strong spark there either.

Yes, you would.

Sorry about not catching that.

So, back to the SECONDARY of the coil possibly failing.

They are cheap enough I'd consider just swapping them - one should be under $45 locally (taken by doubling the highest price one on a major web seller, and then rounding up ... )

Okay guys I replaced the coil and no such luck still has really weak spark even directly off the coil. Went ahead and checked resistance on that plug wire and it is within spec. I also went ahead and did key trick for codes and no codes listed.

Check the coil connections, make sure they are clean, and tight. Also check the connections at the PCM. Clean those as well. May also want to look at the various PCM grounds...... gotta be a reason the spark is weak.

Sounds to me like a bad ground...either through heat or vibration, it's opening up. Run a new ground from the coil to the firewall to test.
