Default Changing speakers in a '93

With a working radio in the truck, I'm now a little disappointed in the speakers that are in the Dakota Sport extended cab that I'm trying to slowly restore...

It seems that at least one speaker (left front) is dead. It also seems that the right front speaker is overwhelmed by any reasonable volume level for music and it starts humming/buzzing a bit more than is tolerable.

So, how tough is it to replace the speakers? What do I have to do in order to get the door panels off and how tough to get them back on once I do take them off? Recommendations for replacements that wouldn't break the bank?

The speakers are 20 plus years old..... you can't really fault them for being bad.... Consider where they hang out.

You want the cool door panel tool. Local parts store will have 'em. Makes getting the door panels off easier, and you can actually put them back on later....... (otherwise, the little clips appear to be stronger than the door panel, so, the parts the clips mount to on the panel rip out instead........)

That and a Philips head screwdriver should be it.

Yeah easy job. Really I don't think you need a panel tool. These trucks door panels have metal springs that pop into the door frame. Pretty solid and you can just put the panel out by hand. But for sure finesse is never a bad thing and a panel tool is a cheap investment.

Don't know the speaker size off hand. Try the FAQ or crutchfield.com.

Also final note, the bass equalizer in this truck is ridiculous and if you go much above 0 then it will buzz and vibrate like mad and sound awful. So be sure it's set at 0 or below.
