that is a crap shoot...... I'd rather have good used OEM, than new aftermarket, myself.

They may not; if you want that, then you can order CAPA certified fenders (that's not a brand, that's a rating.)

Well, me too, assuming its available at a reasonable cost.
Finding rust free, dent free, body parts for a 22-31 year old dakota is going to be tough.
Also, at a minimum, I would plan to strip any used fender.... Paint on these trucks was not the best, not to mention, again 22-31 year old parts.

Well my plan was to install as is. My truck is for work and is peeled, scratched with small dents.

Well if it was mine, I would just go with a set of the fenders I listed above . About $180.00 shipped. I would at least spray paint, both inside and out with at least a spray can of paint. New fenders come with a sealer primer, but it really needs a top coat of paint, even if its rustolum etc.

These trucks are never going to be worth much money (IMO) A low mileage, (50,000) 4wd 1st gen dakota would be hard pressed to sell for more then 3-4 thousand dollars. The dakota convertibles, and Shelby trucks probably sell the highest, and they are well below 10 thousand.
If your front fenders are rusted out, you probably have a lot of rust in other places in the truck, so again, I would go cheap on the fenders.

If a person was worried about fit or finish, as Ralph said, you could go CAPA rated, which is what most insurance companies are doing now. But the cost is almost double.

If you were restoring a 70 challenger, or something else that would be worth a lot of money, then OEM would be the way to go, again IMO.

I agree used and cheap. Amazingly enough, the rest of the truck has no rust, just the fenders. It has only been in the midwest for a couple year, originally from Arkansas. Only reason it has A/C and no other options...so I was told.

I got 2 really solid clean straight fenders out of a local yard for $80... I had to pull them but that took like 1/2 hour for both..... and as far as resale value I don't care.... I didn't buy my trucks to flip.....but I'm tired of how they look..... as long as I am gonna drive the wheels off of them, I'll fix whatever I feel they need/
