Well it would really help matters if I shined a light on the matter.



Here a picture of the drivers side, notice the red circled slots that allow access to the screws. Not that it matters, the speaker only the to upper screws. The passenger side only has the rear most one from what I could see.

 

I think we are out of my depth.
Is that a factory cut out?
Mine sit vertical and it was a pain to stop the magnet from grabbing the body as I put the panel with the speaker attached back in.

 

I think it is factory. Next time I am at Pic and Pull I will look and see if they are the same, I would lean towards yes, as the entire side panels would have had to have been redone. Remember this is a 93 extended cab and I think you said you has a standard.

 

Tried Google, got a few pictures, looks like the 94's had them in a different location and vertical.

 

Those are after market speakers anyway; if they're not blown, I'd leave them for now.

They sound terrible and scrathy and whine with any volume.

I am giving serious consideration to going with a pair of round 6.5" ones in there or 5 x 7's nothing as large as what is in there now that hole is not the largest and inless I climb into the rear, hard on a bad knee, I am working on it reclined.

 

Stick with a quality 5x7 then; is that a 6x9 in there now?

Don't worry about those covers you linked to; they tend to reduce the bass response, sometimes quite a bit.

Inside for the night, fighting a mighraine and tooth ache, ready for someone to just shoot me. Either that or I am going to tell the dentist to just pull it we are not waiting for approval for the root canal. I will measure the speaker in the morning, the one thing I did not think to do while I was taking pictures and I have 3 tape measures in the center console.

Which covers? I have posted links and pictures of so many items I am not sure which one you are referring to.

The problem I am finding with the 5 x 7 speakers I have been looking at, is then it almost immediately says 6 x 8, the few cases it doesn't has been way out of my budget. I just a visit to Walmart or Best Buy is in order, someplace I can actually look at and measure and get an idea of the real size of things.
