Unhappy ECT sensor type

I have a 94 Dakota 3.9 and think I need a new ECT sensor. O'Reilly lists several different types as being a fit for my Dak. My problem is that I need to get the sensor before I take the old one out and most of you likely know they can't be accessed without moving the AC compressor out of the way. I have a service manual but it does not describe the type. My engine is a Magnum if that makes any difference. I have read that most sensors are two wire but there are pin connectors and blade connectors. I haven't checked in person at O'Reilly, just online. I don't know if they could narrow the choices.

I got mine, there are two sensors next to the thermostat, at Carquest which is now advanced auto. they had them on the shelf. You do not have to discpnnect anything to move the AC compressor or alternator. You might even be able to replace them with a long enough extension on your ratchet.
EDIT- by disconnect I meant drain the AC system.

What leads you to believe you need a new sensor?

They're cheap enough, you may want to consider a new ECT and a new gauge sending unit both.

If you do ... don't use PTFE ("Teflon") tape all the way down the threads! It's recommended to use PTFE paste instead, and leave the end two threads or so bare for the gauge sending unit (that's the ground return; PTFE is a bit of an insulator.)

The problem was corrosion on top of the sensor then I broke the plastic connector trying to get it off. The fact that it was 24 years old and subjected to lots of heat probably was a factor.
