Ah, REAL data. THAT is what I do NOT have. So, the tensioners are more durable than I gave them credit for. Good to know.

Heh. I have the Cloyes tensioner and a Cloyes dual roller timing chain set in it now.

HOPEFULLY I won't have any problem out of it as it hits another 100,000+ miles.

But yah.

Do understand, though - an anecdote is NOT data; it is at best a datum.

Thanks for all the info guys, will hopefully be able to get 100k out of this 3.9, it's running now and seems to be doing pretty well.

7yrs and 60k ago i put the cloyes double roller with no tensioner. still runs like a champ. well except for the fluttering oil pressure needle but i think its nothing more than a sending unit gone bad. new one should be here in a couple days
