Default Cold air intakes for 93 Dakota 5.2L Magnum

Been trying to source a cold air intake for 93 Dakota with the 5.2L and I'm coming up empty handed. Does anyone have a 'cross-reference' vendor / part # they like that will work on my truck! Thanks for the thoughts!

If you have a stock air intake and it has the tube from the air cleaner to the grill that is a cold air intake. Its the coldest air you are going to get for intake combustion.

I'm guessing some genius previous owner pulled the stock tube off and rigged up some design such that the engine now intakes from the engine bay? If that is the case then just go to the junkyard and find a stock intake tube then go find the P/O and smack him/her in the face with it and then install it on your truck.

These guys are smart.

It's as cold as you're going to find in the truck; considering most CAIs suck hot air from the engine bay, they're like most bills in Congress - name is usually the exact opposite of what it does!

I take offense to that! I firmly believe that Congress is both effective and swift!

Default Thanks for the thoughts,.. I should have been more clear.

... so this poor truck has been 'ridden hard and put away wet',.. a really interesting mix of aftermarket, and modified stock that makes for a somewhat strange driving / off-roading experience. Having said that,..

The spring project is a top-end rebuild with an new intake and throttle-body and since I wouldn't ever replace what's been constructed for an air intake,.. was fishing around to see what you guys/gals have done.

Tim over at Hughes is gonna sell me this Eldebrock intake with a modified throttle body but he couldn't hook me up with the cold air intake,... thus my question..

I can do the fabrications needed if someone has modified an off-the shelf cold air intake,.. so just seeing what others had crafted up and they like.

Always interested to hear thoughts / ideas?!

I use Hastings or Wix air filters in my 1988 to augment the factory CAI; even Fram's air filters are pretty darn good.

I'd grab a factory unit and replace whatever the PO's have bodged in there.
