Code 1-1 and hood latch stuck

When I reached in I pulled a rubber piece out. When I put the sensor in, which is identical, there is a gap in the bell housing. Not too sure if it has always been there.

Mine just has the open hole.
There is no danger of anything getting inside the trans where the oil is from that spot.The flywheel is outside the sealed part of the trans where oil flows among the moving parts.
