Default Steering knuckle

I need to replace the driver side front steering knuckle on my 95 dakota slt. I was wondering if there are cross compatibility between dakotas and jeeps. Also I'm not sure which front drive axles it has because I dont know how to interpret the under hood sticker. Any help is appreciated.

I gather from your question that the Dakota is a 4WD?

Presuming that ..

Not usually cross compatibility between Dakotas and Jeeps. Wheels, 5.2 Magnum motors. Sometimes the transfer case. The transmissions swap, but the starter has to move.

Some interior parts.

HTTP://car-part.com shows several throughout the USA, but they only show 4-wheel ABS in the interchange.

Default 4x4

Yes it is 4 wheel drive. The steering knuckle is no longer manufactured. Just trying to avoid a trip to the junkyard.

Default Steering knuckle.

The tab the caliper guide pin goes into broke.

The tab for the caliper guide pin broke. Can it be welded? Or just replace it?

Default Steering knuckle

Do the steering knuckles change from first gen to second gen? Can I get one off of any 4x4 dakota?

Not just any, no.

The knuckle assembly (steering arm, caliper bracket, and spindle) change three or four times during the 1st generation; but look, car-part.com does list several spindles (which include all three.)

For a 1995, the knuckle assembly for rear wheel anti lock brakes part numbers are 4447 560-1 ; for 4 wheel ABS they are 5203 8062-3 . ( Second number is driver's side, first is passenger - so for you, it's either 4447561 or 52038063 .)

That number is good 1991-1996 from the two parts manuals in the index.

Assembly changed from a different number in 1990; probably with the addition of the ABS and with the addition of the 6 lug wheel bearing.

So for you, 1991-1996, but match the ABS status of your truck.

Again, car-part.com shows several knuckle assemblies, some down at $40, across the US; shipping will be extra, but you can call the yard. (Shucks, that yard MIGHT be in your back yard; I have NO idea where you are!)

I'll add that if it's THAT badly rusted ... I'd be taking a hard look at the rest of the suspension, and considering dumping it for a new to me truck. That's horribly rotted out.
