Probably not... The PCM *may* turn off the field windings as a test, just to verify the regulator is working. However, as the regulator the pcm wants to use is NOT working....... It's just not gonna be happy.

Odd the 46 code wasn't present until after I jacked up the voltage on the adjustable regulator.

I went back and dropped it to 14.3v. We'll see what happens but I see no reason to change it from 14.3. If the PCM wants to be a baby and cry about it, so be it.

Today marks 6 months since I swapped out my PCM. Since then my truck has fired up and stayed running every time. By reporting this, I probably jinxed the dang thing and it will puke tomorrow.

FINAL UPDATE: This marks the 1-year anniversary of installing my remanufactured PCM. Happy to report my truck has started every time and not stalled once. It's clear the problem I posted in the OP has been solved! This is a long thread and the average guy would not have the patience to read thru it. But if someone has an intermittent stall/no-start issue this thread could be useful for those interested in fixing a similar problem by studying the numerous trials and tribulations I went thru before discovering the final solution. Thanks again to the many brainiacs who helped steer this adventure, You know who you are.
