For 1993 and older Dakotas, we have to drill four 1/2" holes in the frame to bolt the hitch in.
We also have to remove the rear most bumper bolt off the frame; that hole's used by the side bolt, so it's not left loose.
Biggest problem was getting my old ball off the bumper; I ended up using an angle grinder to cut it off (!!!) due to the fact we had no way to hold the ball and impact the nut off.
But.
It's on, and it looks pretty good.
Pics will be forthcoming.
Oh, the hitch? Under $130 on Amazon. 1/2" drill bit was about $10 at Home Depot. Drill slow and don't forget to pilot the hole with a 1/8" then a 1/4" drill bit.
One more down side ... it hangs below the bumper, so I'm betting I'm going to drag once or twice. I'll probably have to get the rear springs rearched to fix that (hey, when you got to be 32 years old, stuff was drooping on YOU wasn't it???)
I like that mounting kit.... I purchased one of the plugs that has both a 4 pin and a 7 pin. No plans for putting the brake controller on , but at least I can tow my open car trailer empty. Heck, much more then a lawnmower on it, I would be over the capacity of the dakota anyways!!
