Default Motor mount issue

I’m building a 49 rat rod truck with a 96 Dakota chassis under it. The Dakota was a 2.5, and have a fresh 5.9 to go in. I can’t find motor mounts anywhere, will gen 2 mounts work in a gen 1 frame?

yup. 3.9, 5.2, 5.9 motor mounts are all the same. youre not finding any specifically listed for a 5.9 in that body that year because Dodge never put the 5.9 in the Dakota in that year. (I hate "5.9" designation.... I still call em 360's cuz that's what that size engine was always called back when they came out in 1971 as the "LA series" version..... "5.2's" will always be a "318" to me. have owned more "old" versions than "new" (Magnum") versions.....

I tend to use 5.2 for Magnum and 318 for LA; 5.9 for Magnum and 360 for LA.

That's not written down anywhere else, though.

I wasn’t looking for 5.9 mounts I looked for 3.9 or 5.2. The parts are discontinued so off to the bone yard I go. Gen 2 mounts won’t work, the cradle is different.

You mean the frame rails up right?

There's also adapters that bolt to the block; those have to come from the boneyard also.

The in between port is however available in the aftermarket.

I'll add that you CAN use LA based mounts.

Discontinued? Huh I replaced them in my 92 and my 96 both within the last year and had no problems getting them
Both are 318 trucks

I think it depends on what you mean.

The frame sides are NLA; the adapters are NLA; the original barrel design is NLA.

(And if you have a source for the OEM barrels, please Please PLEASE post it!)

OTOH, there ARE motor mounts available that bolt and work good, as long as the block adapters and the frame horns are there.

OTGH, 49 mater truck is dropping a Magnum into a 1949 truck ... NOT quite as easy as dropping a 5.2 into a 1992 Dakota!
