Default Front Speakers Fail Again

The original factory Infinity front speakers just plain quit a few years back. I had them replaced at a local stereo shop by some cheap-*** Kenwood replacement speakers which always sounded flat compared to the original equipment speakers. I noticed the stereo shop re-used something from the front speakers when they were replaced by the Kenwood's--I believe that was the large magnets (but not sure about that).

Now I notice one of the replacement front Kenwood speakers has gone completely silent, and the other front speaker is very weak/quiet. For now, I am just going to switch the fader control to use the rear speakers exclusively, I don't feel like spending money again on replacements.

I don't understand too much about the science of speakers. I definitely did not blow them out by setting the volume too high. I don't know why they would just quit working one day.

"replaced by some cheap-*** ... " "I don't know why they would just quit working one day".

I think you answered your own question there

Besides, water runs down inside the door and can damage them if the shields were not put back on (which is what I bet they reused, not the magnets). Also, it gets very cold and very hot in the truck.

Speakers, like a lot of other things, are wearable items that can fail over time, especially if there's enviromental stress.

I don't know why you're complaining if you're not going to be replacing them.

If you DO - check on Crutchfield.COM for possible replacements. And it's not that hard to replace them yourself.
