Default How To Replace The Oil Pressure Switch On My 87 Dodge Dakota 3.9L V6.

My oil pressure switch with gauge went out on my 87 Dodge Dakota and I'm not the most mechanically inclined. Lol
How do I go about removing the old switch and putting the new one on? Any help would be much appreciated.

Should be located right to the passenger side of the distributor. Screws straight down into the top of the block there. (yeah, fun to get to.....) There is a specific socket for those, but, I just used a pair of channel locks to change mine. I have a full size truck though, so, I may have more room to work that you do. You can try a deep socket, see if that will work. Disconnect the electrical connector, unscrew the old one, screw in the new one, hook it back up, done. It needs to be tight, but, don't reef on it. Just make sure there are no leaks when you are done.

I bought the special socket for mine. I have the 3.9 It's just a deep socket with thin walls. The hex part of the unit that the socket turns is at the base as you can probably see on your new one. it was less than $20
