Fuel pump not working
91 Dakota 2wd 3.9l v6 auto trans. Fuel pump not coming on is the problem. Can pour gas in the throttle body and it will run on that. replaced fuel pump twice, replaced the pick up in the distributer. Went to replace the crankshaft position sensor but can't find it on the truck, checked for it around the bell housing on the passenger side but not one there. Any ideas? Thanks.

1991 - there is no crankshaft position sensor. That came in 1992 with the Magnums; our LAs don't use one.
But if the truck runs when you add gas - try swapping the ASD and fuel pump relays. Also, time to check for power back to the pump when the fuel pump relay is bypassed with a jumper wire.
Also, you need - not should want, not ought to have, but NEED - the factory service manual for a 1991 to get the right wiring diagrams.

Check the fuel pump fuse first and foremost. Then swap your fuel pump relay with a known good one. I like to use the a/c relay if it's the same one.

I think there is something in the FAQ about issues with the wire harness.

A/C would probably be better; it still won't start, but you'll have fuel pressure if have a bad FP relay and swap it with the ASD.

Check this
Keep a sharp eye on the plug for the fuel pump. If the tank is ran 1/4 and under for an extended amount of time one of the ground terminals on the plug will melt due to overheating caused by overdraw of power. Nobody sells a replacement for these 5 prong plugs. I had this problem on my 93 Dak with the V6. Pull the bed off and wiggle the plug a bit, then check your fuel rail for pressure. Of course this is something to try if nothing else works. The bed isn't too bad to pull off, a few bolts and light connectors in the rear and you're home free. This job is easier with two people.
