Relay box
Hello folks, I have a question about the relay box. Inside in the center there is a recess with what appears to be lights. I have one red and one green. What does that mean. Also how do you test the giant fuses that run opposite of the relays.
You can test the fuses with a multimeter; pull them out and check for continuity. Or, after checking which ones are hot all the time and which ones are switched, you can check downstream of each to see if they're conducting.
"there is a recess with what appears to be lights" ... according to the PDC cover, those are probably fuses. One is a 5A, one is a 20A. The colors don't quite match, though. Green is a 30A (!!) fuse. The 5A is your constant voltage for things like the underhood light, the time delay relay for the interior lights, and the radio memory. The 20A is for your hazard flashers (amongst other things.)
When you download the factory service manual from the FAQ here, check section 8W-11, specifically pages 8W-11-3 and -4 which describes the circuits in the PDC (the Power Distribution Center, or the "relay box"), and page 8W-11-10 which shows the two fuses in circuit.

Hi, thank you for all your feedback. You are a tremendous help. Took the distributor cap off today. I’m replacing it and the rotor tomorrow. I also bought the camshaft position sensor that goes in the distributor. Any recommendations on replacing that?
