This is not a Dakota question. It is from the best Dodge Chrysler never built, my Ram50. It is the harness side of the urn signal, light switch wiper control unit on the top of the column. Made by Mitsubishi. I figured there must be some wiring guys on here who might recognize it. I have a theory that they put the wire through the plastic connector then put the wire fitting on the end and pulled it back into the connector. I don't want to cut the one out of my truck and try to solder all those wires together to this clean unit if I can just get a new plastic connector and some wire ends to put it back on. The existing unit had a short with the original male post that burnt the plastic wall between it and the one next to it away causing problems with turn signals and lights. Dielectric grease made it worse. I need the larger one the smaller one is OK.
Here is a picture of the female connector I got at the junk yard and the shorted male side.
I think there is a tool out there to 'de-pin' the connectors. I am sure there is some nifty techy term for it, but, I don't know what it is.
I figured there would be. I'm hoping someone knows or at least knows how to search for it. I managed to score another switch while I was hunting the harness. It's the matching one to the clean female in the picture. It was supposed to have been gone. I think the junkyard guy mistook a note for the ignition switch and housing which was gone, for meaning the other one which was still hanging on to the column that was out and laying on the seat.
Hey Ralph thanks for the de-pinner idea. That is what I need.
Edit- The formal name of what I bought so its easier to search is "Wire Terminal removal tool car electrical wiring crimp connector pin kit" Seems more like a list of search associations I think the first 4 cover the concept.
