Default reverse lights

Reverse lights will not come on installed a jumper at neutral safety switch in transmission and lights come on . Changed switch and still no lights . Is there another location from the transmission to the dash before going to the reverse lights.

Well, neutral safety doesn't have anything to do with the reverse lights; that's the reverse light switch.

If you jump it there, and they light up, it's the switch.

What year, which transmission?

1988 dakota sport 4x4 automatic .I tried to locate a different switch but the only one I found was above the trans pan and is molded into the transmission case itself no threads to remove .

Clean around it some, the switch is most certainly replaceable. So far as I know, there weren't any switches in the casting itself.

I sit corrected - I checked the factory service manual, and I've attached the manual page here.

But yes, they're one switch.

If you can jump the terminals and the backup lights work, it's not the wiring, it's the switch.

That can be had from RockAuto - price there has under $12 for the most expensive one as I type this.

I dont have a clue what this is then . The only other sensor or switch i can find is the neutral safety switch . I saw a wiring diagram of the plug its a three pin and one of the wires said back up lights .

It's probably your torque converter lockup solenoid connection.
