Default drier questions

Below is a picture of a (UAC) drier for my 87 dakota.
Something like this came up in a previous post.... having to do with sealing.
My question is.
Do you use a o-ring, a gasket, or both?
Thanks for your help.

The design was to use a gasket.

That leaks on almost all the receiver/dryers I've tried.

Currently, I have a pair of HBNR O-rings on mine; it's not leaking there!

IIRC, it was a 10.8mm O-ring.

DO be sure to lube the O-rings up with either refrigerant oil, or something like Nylog Blue (I use Nylog Blue).

Hey Ralph, I appreciate your input!!
What did you use where the pipes connect to the expansion valve?

I used the flat metal gaskets provided on both sides of the expansion valve; if I have to open it up, I'll use the O-rings (nice thing about buying a HBNR assortment is, I can probably find the right size in there!) Addendum: I also use Nylog Blue on every fitting. Here's an eBay listing for it. You can find it elsewhere and on Amazon too, though.

THEY bolt securely and evenly; the receiver/dryer, however, can't help but bolt at a bit of an angle due to how it's constructed. Blargh.
