Default Transmissions

Hi guys, I have a 94 Dakota 3.9L 4x4 automatic trans and am starting to have issues with slipping and such.
I wanna do a manual swap but i can’t find much info out there. Does anyone know what transmissions fit to the 94 3.9L engine and what trucks they came in? Also any tips or advice that will save head aches!!!
thanks!

AX15, NV3500, NV4500 - need the 4x4 version. An the proper bellhousing on a AX15. The AX15 was standard on the I4, the NV3500 on the V8. The Jeep versions have the starter on the wrong side, but for the AX15 that's a bell housing swap.

Advice? Pick up a factory service manual for your 1994. (The 1995 one in the FAQ list is close, and may do the job for you. But I'd still get the 1994.)

Also, go look on car-part.com for possible cross over years; tell them you're looking for the transmission for the V6, and then look for the V8 for your year (it bolts up, but you do need the V6 flywheel).

I had wanted to do this on my 94 3.9 automatic and everyone who responded to me then told me to just buy a truck that is already manual to save on having to do so much body work and adding pedals etc. I got it rebuilt for $1900 and another $100 at the dealer to make it work right.

I did my 93 V8 club cab several years ago, bought it with a bad auto trans. 75k miles later I totalled that truck. I still miss it.
