Default Injector Upgrade

I have a 95 Dakota with a 5.2 and stock injectors. I know they are the low pressure ones and I want to upgrade to boost the power a bit. Any suggestions on which injectors to go with and will it upset the computer or make it run too rich ?

Changing injectors isn't going to get you any more power. The PCM will still want to inject the same amount of fuel.... Now, having a GOOD set of flow-matched injectors may make the engine run smoother..... might even improve gas mileage, but, don't expect much.

Step 0 - Swap to a programmable ECU, or your current one will, as much as it can, address it back to the current performance.

Easiest MAY be to find a 1996 donor, and swap the wiring harnesses and the ECU to your truck, including the OBDII port inside.

Also, Chrysler ECUs are programmed rich as pigs ANYWAY; bigger injectors just make it run worse, without addressing the problem.

I've thought about finding a 96 donor. I'm very limited with the obd1. The injectors I have are rebuilt and supposed to be matched. It runs smooth but I know there is more power available. I've ported the heads and matched the intake ports as well. It's got the shorty headers too. I feel like I would get another 50 hp or so if I ditched the computer and put on a carb and intake & distributor combo. I still feel those puny injectors are hindering me some. There's not much info on improving this year model, but I'm not giving up yet. Thanks for the input

"another 50 hp or so if I ditch the computer ..."

Hee.

Needed a funny.

Do the 1996 upgrade; hit up Marty Fletcher ( UTAWESOME PERFORMANCE - Home ) or Flyin' Ryan Hogan ( frptuning.com / Flyin' Ryan Performance )

Also, hit up the forums on places like efidynotuning.com and see what can happen.

(Shucks, there's actually a forum on swapping Ford ECUs into Mopars; that's always worth considering if you want maximum ease of tuning, what with TunerRT Pro and a Moates QuarterHorse in a EEC IV CPU.)
