Headlight switch
I have a 96 dodge dakota and a wrecked 2001. I am having the issue of burning up headlight switches, and it looks to me like the switch in my 2001 has relays built into the switch and i was wondering if i could splice the 01 switch in the 96 instead of wiring in relays. I am really short on cash and was cutting firewood at night but without headlights i am unable to drive at night

Replace with the factory switch.
Add an external relay harness.
You're STILL sucking the power down those stir sticks with the factory wiring, so it's still no bueno.
Factory switch isn't all that much money - I find the decent Standard Motor Product switches at AmazonSmile: Standard Motor Products DS357 Headlight Switch: Automotive . For under $15, it's hard to convince me rewiring to use an alien switch is worth it.
The relay can be added after you get some money in - I like this one for suggestion to others, but it's not the only one out there! AmazonSmile: Putco 239007HW - 9007 100W Premium Heavy Duty Headlight Harness and Relay: Automotive Needs to be repinned for 9004 bulbs - that's not too hard either
