Cool We've been working; The Turd's rebuild thread

My buddy and I nicknamed it The Turd, even though it's blue (for now).

as purchased. the plant is hiding the silly purple wave decal.

decal delete!

new brakes all around (still need to rebuild the parking brake setup tho)

also (not pictured)

front hubs

tie rods

shocks and struts (thanks Ralph P!)

timing chain

cat back exhaust w/cool tip

valve cover gaskets

complete fluids swap

wiper bushings (p.i.a. lol)

lots of chasing down gremlins in the electrical system and such

my wallet swears there's more... lol

rot
but added 16" wheels and very low mile uniroyals ($400 from craigslist, can't beat it)

rot

rot

excellent salvaged fenders

inner fenders were ok enough

except for a big dent in the drivers side, which I don't really care about lol. it's a bug-out machine, not a trailer queen

box sides sheet metal from carid. the inners are pretty rotten, but i found two nos inner fender guards (craigslist again) which will keep things completely dry moving forward. also cleaned and undercoated so i'm not worried.

don't ask me. my buddy didn't want to deal with the filler area (?) whatever... he's the welder lol

a little putty

as is today

Just remember, Turds have their uses too. Dung beetles fight over them. Plants use them for nutrients. That salad you had for lunch might have been grown with them.

LOL, I told my buddy about how valuable his outdoor work area is now because of all the brown metallic droppings it's left behind!

ready for paint

primer

Deep Sea Green
(single stage urethane, not as "satin" as I'd hoped but still very cool I think)
still to do:
  • paint wheels flat black
  • install flares
  • 1" hockey puck lift
  • window tint
  • Hurculiner in the bed
  • 318 w/working a/c lol
