Anyway if nothing else I am sure you know you can go ask a body shop or the local body shop paint supplier to look that up for you.
I'm headed to a local body shop this morning to see if they can help me out. I may even ask them to quote the job. It's small but maybe they'll be affordable. There are a couple/few big touchup paint joints online. They'll mix any color. But even they can't find QV4. I believe it is the same as PV4, KV4, V4 but no one wants to confirm it. Sure looks the same to me. I may get a can of the QV4 and paint a swatch to see how close it comes to my paint. Even if it is off just a smidge I can still paint the entire side and no one would know the difference. Or paint both sides. I have options.

One thing I learned is the first letter in the paint code designates the first year it was released. Released by who I don't know. I don't know who creates these colors. You can find the same colors across several car manufacturers. PV4/KV4/V4 is used on Chrysler, Honda, Alfa Romeo, Mazda, and several others. Perhaps the different first letters depends on which year the manufacturer employed it and the last two characters is the actual color. Who knows!

As for clear coat, they sell this Max Spray 2K these days. It's a 2-part clear coat in a rattle can. You puncture a hardener bladder just prior to use then mix. Can is good for 2 days+ once punctured. Supposed to be real good stuff for rattle can.

Funny, 3 listings QV4, PV4, KV4 all 1991- 1994. I'm betting there is no difference.

Personally I'd just paint the one side.Completely. And call that DONE.

You can't see both sides at the same time anyway.

That's where I think it's headed. My only reservation is if I do the whole side I'll likely need a quart vs a pint (if I use my spray gun). That adds $60+ to the job. If I relegate it to the door back I can probably do that with a pint. I'll probably get one rattle can and paint a swatch. If it's dead nuts I'll do the door to the back. I'll use the rattle can as the first coat over the primered spots and the pint for the full coats.

Just my thinking for now.

Went to body shop. The guy that could help me with the codes was not there but he'll call me back later.

OK, the guy at the body shop called back. He said QV4 and PV4 are the same color. He's been in the business 30 years so he'd know. Also said if he were to order that paint for my truck he would get PPG #27161. He likes PPG.

That's all I need to know.

This link lists every color that was used in 1993, No listing at all for QV4 ever! What does come up is PV4 and KV4 (same color). I suspect it was a typo or you read it wrong. First is the main body color then the second is the secondary color witch should be the PV4/KV4.
