BTW its about 20K on the new chain. I'm pretty sure I got the Cardone reman distributor from RA. I do not recall it being a real problem to get it set at 3. I do remember that when I got the MT2500 off ebay years ago that sync was way off from my setting it manually and setting the sync with the MT2500 was a chore because the numbers jumped around. That and fuel mileage is why I finally pulled the trigger on a new distributor.
Was it "new", or was it a reman? I don't have a lotta faith in Cardone remans..... they do the bare minimum for resale. That means things like bushings don't necessarily get changed, or gears.... and slop in those, means inaccurate timing for fuel sync. (injector timing.)
I don't believe I ever bought a remanned Cardone product of any kind. I have heard nothing but bad about Cardone and you added to that. I noticed, for example, many of these parts stores sell Cardone (even RockAuto) and especially assemblies like rack n pinions. I was glad to run into Ralph here some 7 years ago who recommended alternatives like RackDoctor. It just seems they take more pride in their work vs Cardone who, as you say, run their remans down a conveyor belt and do only what is absolutely necessary.
That brings up another point. Starting to hear more chatter with these EV batteries. The rebuilds come with only 1-year warranties. That's because they may replace only half the cells...the ones that don't meet minimum specs. But it remains, the other half the cells are still old and partially spent which will undoubtedly fail in short order. The entire EV market is a scam.
