Default 96 Dakota 2WD Bump Stop Source

Anyone have a source or alternative for 2WD bump stops? Mine have disintegrated. I found the smaller bolt-on type for the upper control arm at Rock Auto for extension but not the larger compression type that snaps into the socket on the frame.

Bump stop fits into socket behind tie rod.

I replaced mine a year ago. Give me till morning and I’ll dig it up for you plus a trick that will help you install them.

Try...
Amazon Amazon

Worked on my '93 Dakota RWD. I'll post pix of the tool I used that made it easier to install.

Here is the tool I used. Your basic pry bar. Place the rounded end of the bump stop on the hole in the pry bar. That kinda sorta keeps it in place. Slather the other end of the bumper with brake lube (sil-glyde) or similar. Don't use grease or petro based lube. Find something on the truck you can use as the fulcrum and pry the bump stop into the cup. I think I used the spring or tie rod. Will likely take several attempts as you learn how to get the bump stop squared up relative to your fulcrum point. Ask me how I know this is the best method to install those bump stops.

BTW, that pry bar ranks in my top five handiest tools I own. I've used that thing for more jobs than I can count. And jobs that no other tool would work.
