Brakes done but still no peddle
DId you try bench bleeding the MC? I've done it with the MC in the vehicle and just making up some sacrificial loopty lines to "bench" bleed it on the vehicle. Though, I'd be inclined to replace it given it's probably old maybe even original (?) and maybe been damaged by running dry.
He wasn't feeling good today so we are going to try and do a full bleed from MC then all four wheels. At this point, It wouldn't hurt to give that a try. His a 95 RWD as well. I let him know as well that his ball joints are bad also. I can only help so much.lol
Upper or lower ball joints? The uppers are threaded and I really didn't fully trust the threads that were in the arm so I ended up putting a spot of weld on 4 spots after threading in the new joint. I'll be able to grind off the welds if I ever have to remove them again. Your neighbor's being a 2wd means there are entire replacement upper control arm assemblies available (not so for 4x4)...which may be a smart way to go if the control arms are in questionable shape.
Given I needed a 3/4” breaker bar with a 6-foot cheater pipe and all I was worth to unscrew the upper balljoints and then again when I screwed in the new ones I never found reason to worry about them.
Yeah, in my case they look like they'd been chewed up before by God knows what ham fisted guy with a wrench and I didn't want to take a chance. I wanted that little bit of extra insurance.
I have a 99 so mine were press in and out. I haven't really took a good look but are they both screw type or mixed? Most auto parts list both types but terms press as rare. I also see they have a socket made for these as well. Cost wise, they are cheaper than mine.
The sad part is they are older then me with NO mechanical skills whats so over. Neither one have the skills or money to take it to a shop. Heck I have been working and learning as a kid and still today on my own stuff.

My ‘93 is screw uppers and press lowers. And Sunex makes the socket and you can rent a balljoint kit from Autozone which has it. Weird size. Like 2-9/64ths or some weird thing.
