Having weird problem please help
Recently bought a 91 doge Dakota 4x4 5.2L and I have a check engine light I turn the key 3 times to check and I get 3,5,5 I can’t figure it out can someone please help.
Well there is no code 3. Code 55 means end of code reading. So the 3 is probably really a 12 which means the battery has been disconnected in the last 50 key on cycles.

Make sure you were misreading the flashes. IDK if it will shut off the maintenance needed light but disconnecting the neg battery cable for a few minutes will erase codes. Which is why the 12 is important when you check codes to buy one.
check before you drive check after you drive.

Try the dealers to make sure about that flash code. Find one with old mechanics who might be able to remember. When I go in to ask teh young guys just don't know anything not in the books. Something must be off if you are reading it correctly.
I remember there used to be apps for OBDI that connected to your smart phone. I have a Snap On MT2500 with the correct cartridges for my 94. You can get them on ebay. The plug is on the passenger side of the firewall behind the AC condenser.

11 is the lowest code I am finding. So, its highly likely your "3" is actually 12. Which really doesn't help.
There are still OBD 1 scanners out there in the world, some will do both 1 and 2. There are also 'adapter cables' from obd1 to obd2, but, no clue how well those actually work...... Make sure you read reviews before you buy though.... some list a a lot of features, but, what they don't mention is, they only work on OBDII, and not on every car.....
