Default 92 Dakota early shift

1992 Dakota 5.2 rwd automatic 46rh trans
130k original miles.

maybe a normal trade but kinda annoying.
what happens is for example, when sitting at a light and light goes green, give it heavy acceleration just to the point of not exactly flooring it, it shifts immediately into second within 5 mph. So when this happens, you lose all that torque range. When this happens, and you peg the gas pedal to the floor it will downshift to first and go through the gears normal.
1st to second is the only situation. All other gears will function like I think they should. If In third gear and you need some more power, go a little past half near three quarter throttle she will kick down.
in a nut shell is it normal for these trucks to not enjoy first gear coming out of the hole under heavy acceleration?

I changed trans oil and filter, adjusted bands, changed out od solenoid when bought truck. The tv cable is adjusted properly. All gears work and down shift as they should. My question is on the 1-2. Thanks in advance

I had similar problems. Had it rebuilt turned out the guy just put in one off the shelf. and there was no improvement. Took it to the dealer to get a diagnosis and they kept it 3 days then called me. When I got there they told me it was fixed but wouldn't say what the problem was and charged me $100. Almost got into a fight over it. It ran better still not using the power it is making.
So I will be paying attention here to find out if you get this diagnosed. The thing that really bugged me was the fast shift losing me all that torque on on ramps and that lowlife threw away my matching numbers case.

For an early shift like that, check the TV cable, make sure it is even hooked up.... (on both ends.) Make sure it moves freely as well.

Tv cable is hooked up and is adjusted to perfection. All the shifts are perfect besides 1-2. No offense bud but I mentioned all this and what is happening in the original post. There is an annoying condition from when starting out under acceleration from a stop

Then it's time to drop the pan, and make sure the TV itself isn't sticking. Your trans is purely mechanical/hydraulic, no electronics involved aside from TCC, and O/D.
