Default 1992 dakota pcm

Anyone know what year of pcms are compatible with the 1992 5.2 MPFI. About 15 years ago i put a mopar performance P5249516 Pcm because the original pcm had the injector #3 circuit issues. But today I was out driving and the truck just shut off. I opened the hood and there was smoke coming out of the pcm.

After a short Google search I wasn't having luck finding a new mopar unit to put in it.

Yeah, you are going to have a REAL hard time finding another performance PCM, hen's teeth doesn't even begin to describe it. 92 was the first year for MPFI, so, I would think 92 to 95 should work. (needs to be same engine size, and same trans.)

OEM PCM part number for my 1993 Dodge Dakota LE, 5.2L, A518 auto tranny, RWD is 56027848. Not certain if this is the same for a '92 and it is the stock OEM PCM.

My aging memory says that the pcm's that will fit is the 92 or 93 years because those 2 had a higher hp and torque rating than later years.Mother Mopar did some re-tuning and made those changes to supposedly help with emissions and fuel mileage. I know that 1 thing for sure was the downsizing of the exhaust system on 94 & later models, I'm not positive of anything else. Also you might check on Jeep oem replacement items. Not many people realize that Jeep was the 'mule' for the magnum series of engines. Literally millions of miles logged before Mopar introduced them in the Dodge lineup.
