I suspect you will have problems with the 92 5.2 factory tune.
And as far as I can tell, no one offers tuning for the OBD1 computer.
Where I am, im emissions exempt so I went with a carb. Mainly to make it easier to upgrade to a cam change in the future.
I plan to probably use a 99+ ecu as that’s what heyyou recommended I believe, it’s actually going into what was a 3.9 v6 Dakota, so my current computer is almost completely useless to me with the 360 lol.

Technicallyyyy I don’t need to pass emissions as in VA 25+ year old cars don’t need to PASS emissions, and my cat ate itself before I bought the truck anyway lol.

Not too far from you actually, Fairfax. I go to school in Radford so I'm back and forth a bit, but May-August I'm in NOVA. If you're local to me do you know of any good machine shops? I've looked at Tyson's and ClassicMotorMachine.

Yes, I do.

Very well known in this area, especially when Dominion Dragway was still here..... IMO he is very reasonable, fair, and honest.
Never had any dealings with Tysons Machine Shop, other then I priced some work. They seemed high to me, but as you know, labor in this area is high. But I have heard their work is good.
If you try to contact Billy and have any problems reaching him, let me know. I have a cell number, but will need to dig it up.......
He is a one man operation, but has a very good reputation.......

I'll take a look at his prices. Classic's prices are based on their sheet from 2022, but I can get the block bored and rehoned, decked, and cleaned for right around $500, so not bad, but its also Nova, so everything is twice as expensive as everywhere else lol.

Just had this pop into my head, I heard about an aluminum plenum replacement. Are those worth it? I found one here for $70.

About 10 years ago, I talked to C&C and Tysons, about a Chevy LT1 block. To bore, hone, clean, Line bore the mains,(not line hone) install cam bearings, freeze plugs, and balance the rotating assy. was about $3,000.00 That was with me supplying parts. I had a friend, who's father owned a machine shop in Georgia. He took it down there and did the work for $600.00.
Now the price I got in Georgia, was way below what it should have been, but I felt the others were to high, at least for me.
That being said, I hear both, do good work, just too expensive, IMO
BTW, the reason I didnt use Billy, was he could not line bore the block.

Should I go line bore or would it not really be necessary for what I'm planning on doing? I'm honestly not familiar at all with all of the different machining processes outside of stuff like a bore, hone, deck, or balance.

I doubt it is necessary. Line boring, has to do with boring the main caps where the main bearings set. Forgot to mention, on the LT1 engine I did, it was a 2 bolt block that was converted to 4 bolt mains..... that is why it had to be line bored.

Ah okay, so I should be good with just a bore, hone, deck, and cleaning. Do I really need to deck the block in your guy's opinions? I mean its a 100k mile engine, but it is also a factory block.
