Default Lock up converter stuck

The converter in my 93 four-wheel drive V8 Dakota seems to be stuck in the locked mode or in overdrive however you would word it when I start it in park it runs fine put it in drive reverse anything it just kills the motor any ideas of how to get it unstuck

Jack up the rear end. Both tires off the ground. Start the truck, and put it in gear, foot OFF the brake. If it stays running, step HARD on the brake, does it stall the motor?

Sounds like some good advice on how to confirm it ...... This is something that breaks and I never heard of a way to fix it, other then to replace it.
I wish you good luck.

More often than not, it's just a bad lockup solenoid. GM cars suffered from this back in the early 90s.... It was an easy fix, for the most part, unless you had to disassemble half the car to get to it. (I am looking at YOU Corsica/Cavalier....)
