I am aware of todays fuel. I owna small engine ATV Dirt Bike performance center and see it all the time. I do use during the year but very limited. Don't keep much fuel in it but when I do I use Stabil 360 orange. I've use the truck solidly for the last 3 weeks to chase down all the bugs so the fuel in it now is only days old but as it is very possibly you are spot on I did hear the injector start/stop/start when listening a listening tool.Regardless its obvious after 180K miles the injectors need renewing. The engine runs like a sewing machine when running properly. Oil has been changed every 10 miles mak for the last 10 to 12 or more years. Always used Lucas oil stabilizer as we..

 

You are fine .... imagine dealing with a 80 year old Uncle that claims he been doing the same thing for over 60 years .... never had a problem

Sadly I have 2 different sets of injectors around .... The car has 187K miles on it, I installed a used engine with 100K miles on it and had a spun bearing issue .... then I installed a engine with 135K on it ..... I always installed the original fuel rail that has 187K on it ..... So I have 2 different sets of injectors with lower miles on them ..... I feel I must check them and use them before buying new. .... Sigh

 

Im wondering if anyone can tell me what device is responsible for driving the injectors?

 

PCM. Injectors get power from the ASD relay. PCM controls the ground side of the circuit to fire them.

 

Where's the PCM located. I assume its not to be confused with the main module on the upper right inner fender under the hood.

Power Control Module (PCM or Engine Control Module (ECM) otherwise known as "the computer".

 

So Iv had mine rebuilt so it looks like its either injectors , connectors or wiring.

 

Long story short,
I purchased another PCM from Ebay and everything works perfectly. some of the injectors were not getting the grounds toggled properly or at all. All positive sides weree working.

I have been fighting a strange issue myself, my 1993 Caravan will run perfect on the freeway at 75 mph for about 30 miles .... then the engine starts cutting out or misfiring.
I can slow down to 50 mph and runs fine .... I have tried everything possible. Only thing left not touched is injectors or pcm .... I'm leaning it is the pcm.

 

This is where the ability to do data logging would come in very handy.
