Default 1996 dodge Dakota slt

I have the opportunity of trading an old Honda atv for a 1996 dodge Dakota slt extended cab 4x4. After talking with the owner it has some issues that I’m not sure about. The owner said that for some reason some of the dash gauges do not function. He also said the same for the headlights and taillights. Talking to him more he said that “When driving over 50 mph it rev's kind of high it doesn't want to kick into second gear not sure what causes that”. Could this be tied into the electrical issue. After googling some I am not sure. Read that the computers go bad fairly often. Could this be the issue? He also said that the 4x4 does not work, saying “It kept locking up I'm not sure if it didn't have oil or something in it but the gears kept jamming up I never checked it”. I’m not too worried about the 4x4, but I’m worried about the transmission. Any ideas as to a fix with the electrical issues and the transmission? Is this a good trade? I will try to attach some pictures of the truck.

How much does he want for it? Which gauges don't work? Have you driven it?

I would be trading an old Honda fourwheeler for it. I have never driven it and I’m not sure what gauges work. I think he said the gas gauge does work but not sure what else

Check the codes and if it drives pay a mechanic to diagnose it. It is hard to tell from reading, but that many problems is probably a can of worms. Better to know for sure before committing.

Is there any other questions that I should ask the seller?

Spend a 100 bucks, and take it to a shop to have a used vehicle inspection done. That will give you a pretty good idea of what it is going to cost to make it road-worthy.
