Will a ram 1500 trans work in a Dakota

Default Will a ram 1500 trans work in a Dakota

I have a 1994 dodge Dakota 5.2 v8 4x4 from what I’ve found it came with the 46rh transmission I have a 97 46re from a 1500 the only thing I noticed is different is one plug on the trans and the torque converter is bigger in the re my question is would this trans work in my Dakota ?

Nope. The RE trans, as the name implies, is electronically controlled. Your PCM doesn't have the first clue what to do with it. You need an RH trans. Doesn't matter what it came out of, so long as it was 4x4, it'll bolt right in.

I had a feeling but wasn’t for sure now will the transfer case from the 1500 work or do I need to find one from a Dakota ?

Probably the same transfer case. However, the 98 and up t-case are not likely to have the Vehicle Speed Sensor in the tailshaft housing of the t-case, which the older trucks still used.....
