Lots of post considering the use of the 3.9 for hotrods
Hmmm, 6 cylinder and hot rod don't go together. 440 and hot rod do! I get people want to be different but you have to look back to the hay day when the aftermarket made everything you could think of for the LA and big blocks. Even then 6 cylinder support was small compared to the other two. The mid to late 80's was not a good time for Chrysler and powerful engines. It seems the op hasn't been back and no engine was posted. Assuming it has a 6 cylinder you can use pre magnum(1992) distributors. The later magnums did not have a reluctor for each cylinder. You can obtain everything you need for the swap separately. As far as I understand it Chrysler subbed out production of the distributor kits.

Sorry, I miss your post earlier.

The problem with the trigger wheel that you have, (assuming its from a slant 6) is its a even fire engine. (spacing equal on the reluctor (trigger wheel) for a 120 degree crankshaft spacing.
The 3.9 is a odd fire motor and the crankshaft has 2 of the crankshaft throws set at, I think it was 112 degrees with the other 4 being at 120.
So the reluctor needs to be designed for the odd fire in order to have correct ignition timing on all 6 cylinders.
Hope this makes sense.

Some engine bays are not long enough to support a V8.... and as you said, some just want to be different.
All of the 3.9 V6, 87 and up came with a hall effect distributor from the factory.
The older style electronic ignition kits were offered through Direct Connection, but have long been discontinued.
I did have the part numbers for the kits, the distributor alone, and the reluctor wheel. But again, discontinued long ago.

If you know of a source, please post a link.

Proform is licensed to make them, I see the big block kit and small block kit but nothing for 6 cylinders. I'm not familiar with 6 cylinder stuff but the small and big blocks had different length shafts. Other than the shaft length and the reluctor for what ever motor you need it for they are mostly alike.
