Default Why?

Why are the plugs oily with gunk at the tips? Did I drive them in too far? I do not think I have a leaky valve cover gasket.

The stuff on the end of the threads there? That's pretty normal. Consider cylinder pressures while the engine is running. Not too much of a stretch for combustion gases to get forced a ways up the threads.

Yea, I was thinking I might be burning oil. There were moist flecks of carbon in the tangs.
