Default Dodge Swap Info Needed.

So this is probably a stupid question.
I rebuilt a 46re transmission for a 99 Dodge Durango SLT 5.9L V8 the begining of this year. Now I'm rebuilding a A500 transmission from a 91 Dodge Dakota Le 5.2L V8. I have noticed both the transmissions look very similar inside and out just a few minor differences was wondering if its possible to using the parts from the 46re to help rebuild the A500 and save some money or If I could just throw in the 46RE into the 91 dakota and use it as the engine to the Durango blew but the transmission is still good.

The 46RE trans is electronically controlled, and your 91 PCM would have no idea what to do with it..... That said, if the case is the same size as the 46, those parts likely will fit inside...... I know the 46-48 trans are essentially the same case, just with different bellhousing bolt patterns. Internals are swappable. Bear in mind, there are some MAJOR differences between the old RH transmissions, and the newer RE trans..... those are not interchangeable.

Ok yeah I have been inside both the transmissions besides the eletronics part you mentioned. Most the hardware looks to be very similar even from the bellhousing area all the way back to the transfer case even the starter mounting area and the having to remove oil filter to get to a bell housing bolt is like the same for both the durango and the dakota. But the transmission swap is clearly a no go so hoping that the parts will be a go so I can save some time and money. Just need to know for sure from someone who is more knowing then me.

The PATC website is back up! You can see what parts are the same and different.
