Default Need some help with intermediate steering shaft coupler

My 94 Dak, 4 x4, extra-cab, intermediate steering shaft, lower rubber coupler started clunking. Found the rubber working its way out. I have a couple of worm drive clamps kinda holding it together. I looked thru the FAQs for a repair and didn't see one. The repairs on u-tube seem to go around 94s. All I seem to find are ones for Jeeps, and other years of Dodges, except for the one where he cuts the u-joint off and replaces it with a new u-joint with 3/4 DD on either end, from Amazon.

Am I missing something? I didnt see anything in the FSM, either.

Where the steering shaft exits the cab, the shaft moves to and fro sideways about a half-inch. Is there a bearing at the bottom that can be replaced?
All of the shafts I see have rag joints. The ones for Jeeps look similar to mine. Any ideas for a replacement or repair. I haven't pulled it out yet to see what the ends are. Like are the both ends splined or double D or a mix? Would one from a different year fit? I'm thinking about splicing and dicing one or two and see if they'll fit. Gotta be a simpler way.

I have a '93 that I recently replaced the steering shaft (intermediate shaft) because the mechanic cracked one of the u-joint knuckles on it when trying to de-pin it (I was replacing my rack n pinion). Chrysler in their infinite wisdom chose to connect the steering shaft to the rack on the lower end and the steering column on the upper end using a roll pin. My understanding is they did that for only a year or two because as they figured out it was a stupid design. Over time, that pin gets rusted and becomes one with the shaft and makes it near impossible to out out. For my '93 I believe the lower coupler was dependent on whether you had column shift, 4WD, power steering, or tilt steering wheel (had to do with varying lengths). Not sure on '94. The upper coupler was identical on all configurations in the '93.

I have to believe the '94 FSM shows this. Let me take a look. I think the '94 FSM is available on this forum. BTW, I got my steering shaft from a boneyard. I had to call 43 of them to finally find the one I needed. To your favor, there are a whole lot more 4x4 steering shafts available than my 2WD.

Give me a little time to look up your truck.

My FSM is for a 93. I haven't found where the spline count is shown. It shows the teardown of a box and shows the stub is splined with a torsion bar sticking out of end. It looks as if mine dont have a torsion pin.

I have a 94, 4x4, auto, Multi-position column with a cage around the lower end inside the cab. So my intermediate shaft is short ( 18.5in).

I was talking to the Lares Tech about the 94 Dakota power steer box Input shaft. He said it was 3/4in-30 spline. Rock Auto shows 26, 30 and 25 spline totally round 3/4in shaft with a flat-bottomed groove midway on the end. My lower end Vibration absorbing u-joint is here
Used a part of a 3/8 pipe to make a shim for roll pin. Ill need to take it off to repair it, or stuff it back together.

They are made out of Aluminum, which doesn't stand up to a steel pin beating on it. This is why I'm trying to find the spline count.
