my 93 dakota le runs like crap, advice?
ok i bought this pile at the auction...accidently (don't ask). Anyways, it had lots of body damage, i made it look somewhat presentable, the door hings on both sides, on the bottoms were broke through the doors, i welded them, and cleaned the interior. still needs a fender and bumper, But it runs horrible, And the shifter, while it does shift into the gears, the shifter feels like it's doing nothing...i'm guessing something around the little spring in the tranny broke...but i don't feel like pulling the pan yet, anyways back on subject. i didn't disconnect the fuel pump.
It runs horrible, so i did a compression check, i have
front of truck
105 110
105 80
80 110
120 100
do you think that compression (mainly the 2 80psi cylinders) would make it run horrible, or should i look elsewhere? what would be the most common problem on the 5.2 magnum? not sure if i want to fix it or just try to part it out or sell it without a title, i'm 850$ into it right now.
here it is:

i kinda got rambling. i do not have a leak down tester, so i figured i'd see if there was a more common cause on the 5.2 litre magnums for low compression?
it does run, but runs like crap..
just need to figure out the problem and see if it's going to be worthwhile to fix it or not. really don't feel like buying a leak down tester..

Did you do a "wet" and "dry" compression check. The "wet" check is when you squirt oil into the cylinder and see if the compression comes up. Your compresion that you posted is not good. 100# is supposed to be minimum and 25% difference in cylinders is the max.
i did a "dry" test. guess i'll get a leak down tested and see what needs to be done. whats average compression on these motors? i really don't care for the truck, most likely it needs an engine rebuild right? i don't mind doing headgaskets, and head work but i hate doing bottom end work.. thinkin i should just part it out..
