How to remove the bed..is it difficult? 93 dakota V6
Has anyone removed the bed? I'm in the process of changing the fuel pump and heard it's easier to remove the bed rather than drop the tank. I have a full tank of gas so the removing the bed idea sounds so much easier.
Any info appreciated!

I too, have heard it's easier to remove the bed, than drop the tank, however, I canot verify.
To remove the box:
(1) Disconnect battery.
(2) Disconnect tail lamp wiring harness.
(3) Support exhaust pipe and disconnect support hanger from cargo box.
(4) Loosen clamps and disconnect fuel and vent hoses from nozzle tubes.
(5) Remove spare tire winch tube support bracket from the bottom of the cargo box.
(6) Remove cargo box holddown screws (provided picture):
- At the rear holddowns (A)
- At the rear, center holddowns (B)
- At the center holddowns (C)
- At the front holddowns (D)
(7) Identify, mark, and retain the shims (if used) for installation refrences.
(8) Remover cargo bix from frame.
To install:
(1) Position box on frame.
(2) If used, install shims and install holddown screws. Tighten holddown screws to 41 N*m (30 ft. lbs.).
(3) Position spare tire bracket support at bottom of cargo box and install retaining screws. Tighten securely.
(4) Connect fuel and vent hoses to the nozzle tubes. Tighten the fuel hose clamp screw to 4 N*m (35 in. lbs.). Tighten the vent hose clamp screw to 2 N*m (14 in. lbs.).
(5) Connect tail pipe to support hanger on cargo box, remove the support.
(6) Connect tail lamp wiring harness.
(7) Connect battery.
(8) Thoughly inspect installation for:
- Connecting hardware installed correctly.
- Electrical system components are functionally operational.

It is actually easier to remove the front bolts and loosen the rear set. Disconnect the taillight harness, fuel filler tube and such. Then you can lift up the front of the bed and support it with a couple 2x4s. This way one person can do the job without too much trouble.
