New Member w/ "new" 96 Dakota problem
Hey Everyone,
I was just given a 1996 Dakota Sport with 115K and in overall very good shape. It was hit in the driver-side rear quarter panel to the tune of about $600 damage...not bad. But, after the accident (someone else ran into the truck as it was parked) the truck will not stay running. It starts right up and runs for about 3-4 seconds and dies. I changed the "upstream" o2 sensor and it didn't help.
Does this model have a roll-over valve or sensor that would have shut off the fuel pump when it gets hit? The fuel tank is full and everything seems to be connected in the engine compartment. Or, does this like a fuel pump?
What should I check first?
I am really excited about this truck...I have wanted one for years, but couldn't afford it. I am an OK DIY mechanic, BUT I need direction on this. I don't want to just start replacing sensors...too much money!!!
Thanks for all of the help, in advance!
