When i was taking my brake drum off the hold down springs popped out before i got the drum off. This worries me. I thought i had put them back on correctly but apparently not. They were holding on just fine before. Did i do something wrong?

If I had to guess I would say you didnt get them turned all the way to the right position to seat themselves. When you press them down onto the pins that stick through from the back of the drum, there are the two lil divits in the top cup that holds the spring in place. That is where the flat part of the head of the pin sets in after you press the spring on and turn it a quarter of a turn. If you didn't get it turned quite far enough that would cause the springs to come loose.

The other thing could be something broke ie the pin itself, the spring retainer, or .....like in most cases the spring broke.
