The MAP sensor provides the PCM with input as to barmoetric pressure (which varies with your altitude), and engine load. Readings from this (and other sensors) effect air/fuel mixture (injector pulse timing) and apparently also spark timing.
The MAP sensor is located on the front of the throttle body (see picture). There are vacuum lines that run to it, either make sure they are good, or just replace them.
You probably have 2 oxygen sensors. One is located before the catalytic converter (on the exhaust pipe near the side of the transmission, the "upstream" oxygen sensor), and one is located after the cataytic converter (the "downstream" oxygen sensor). The upstream oxygen sensor is the one that really determins the air/fuel mixture, while the primary purpose of the downstream is to make sure the cat. is working.
