RE: idle problem
A few ideas:
Check your throttle position sensor (TPS). This is mounted on the throttle body, on the opposite side as the throttle body cables. Its a 3-wire connector. With the key ON, check the violet/white wire for 5-volts (the black/light blue wire should provide ground).
Than, check output voltage (center connector, orange/dark blue wire). With the throttle closed, there should be at least 200 millivolts. At WOT, there should be no more than 4.8 volts. Voltage should increase and decrease smoothly as throttle is opened and closed.
You might also check the idle air control (IAC) motor. this is mounted on the rear of the throttle body. Remove it and inspect for cleanliness. Than, turn the key ON (DO NOT start) and watch for smooth movement of the pintle. It could be that there is a restriction in the TB (dirt, etc), or the IAC motor is not opening up enough.
Also make sure you look at the throttle body carefully. Inspect for any oil, dirt, etc. Clean as required. Oh yea, let us know what ya find .
